The Winner of the Pie Cookoff & the recipes too!

So, my husband and I had a major Pie Cook-off!  We tried our best to cook our pies with all the love and affection that we could possibly muster trying to make our own pie the winner in our all out "Pie Cook-Off" on Thanksgiving, but of course there can only be one winner!  My husband went for the German Chocolate Pecan Pie  (right pic) and I went for the Crunchy Caramel Apple Pie (left pic).                                                                                                 P1010163.JPG

I know, these are pretty mean looking pies, right?  But, there was a clear winner in this cook-off and our doorman confirmed our suspicions.....the Crunchy Caramel Apple Pie won hands down...no contest!  Whooo....hoooO (not that I am boasting or anything)!  I did make a mean pie (okay, now I am boasting)!  So, here is why we came to this conclusion, the G.C.P.P. (German Chocolate Pecan Pie for short) was missing the coconut flair, you could hardly taste it.  Also, there was not an apparent chocolate flavor either, so the name of the pie seemed misleading.  But, I will tell you that I loved the pie anyway!  I just would not have named this G.C.P.P. or I would try to better this recipe with more coconut and chocolate to help it live up to it's name!

The C.C.A.P (Crunchy Caramel Apple Pie for short) was epicurilicious!  Seriously, this pie is a big time winner and a keeper for future parties, holidays and wherever else you may want to deliver a stellar cooking performance.  This pie melts in your mouth.  It had a great soft warm and savory apple taste, and the crunchy top complemented the softness of the apple in a tremendous way!  Not only this, but the caramel added the perfect sugary taste to finish of the C.C.A.P.  Yumm.....so good!   The pie is best warm, where all of the flavors seem to melt right in your mouth.  Try this one!

Hey, if you have some special recipe that is a complete winner, please let me know, so I can beat my husband again in our next Pie-Cookoff!   Of course, your Epicurista, will keep you updated on future Cook-off's, as well!  Happy Cooking!
