Easy and Delicious Slow-Cooked Jamaican Jerk Pulled Pork

Having visited Jamaica many times and having fallen in love with the spicy, flavorful and bold Jamaican Jerk Spice, I decided to see if I had what it took to replicate these flavors.  Of course, my dish needed to soak each and every fabulous morsel of the jerk seasoning into my meat to even be half as successful as the authentic Jamaican version.    It needed to be a dish that had time to soften and develop its unique flavor over time.   To accomplish these goals, I chose pork and a recipe that would not disappoint.

Even more important, I used the slow-cooking method and let my Cuisinart PSC 400 4-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker do all the hard work.  It was so easy!  I just put together my jerk marinade, threw the pork in the slow-cooker it, and set the timer for 8-hours.  The nice thing is - when the time expired, the cooker immediately set itself to the "warm setting".  I loved this!  I just don't have the time or the will power to sit next to my meat all day, so this feature is extremely helpful.

As you can see from the picture above, after the meat was as succulent as ever, I added a bit of freshly cut pineapple and grilled onions (this was my own flair), I topped it with a bit of English Cheddar from Trader Joe's and I put it between a soft fresh roll.

I achieved my goal, because this was one of the best sandwiches I have ever made.  And, I didn't have to travel thousands of miles to Jamaica to enjoy it!  By just slow cooking it in my stainless-steel Cuisinart slow cooker, it made lunch so easy, and delicious!  I would recommend that all of you try this out and make sure you SLOW COOK for the best flavor.

By the way, if you are interested in my slow cooker, the PSC 400 Cuisinart, I saw it discounted on Amazon for $80.00.  This seems like a pretty good price to me, since it is really slick looking with it's stainless steel exterior.  It will look great on any counter.   I also liked how the interior cooking pot is removable for easy use.

Recommended side dish: Citrus Coleslaw

Recommended wine: Riesling
